Requesting a Letter of Recommendation

Procedures for requesting college, scholarship, and program letters.

Submission Deadlines

College Applications
  • Early Action/Decision (Nov 1): Request by end of the 3rd week of school.
  • Regular Decision: Request by mid-October (End of Q1).
  • Other Colleges: At least 3 weeks before deadline.
Scholarships & Programs
  • Aug - Nov: Request 4 - 5 weeks in advance.
  • Other Times: Request 3 weeks in advance.
Note: Late requests will not be accepted. Deadlines refer to school business days.

Eligibility Requirements

Letters will only be written for students who meet all of the following:

  • Maintained a Citizenship grade of A or B.
  • Demonstrated responsibility, respect, and consistent academic effort over the course of the year.
  • Followed class expectations regarding attendance, participation, and deadlines.


Note: Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee a letter will be written.

How to Request a Letter

Step 1: Check Eligibility

Review the "Eligibility Requirements" to ensure you qualify before making a request.

Step 2: Draft Your Responses

The official form requires detailed Brag Sheet answers. Do not write them in the form directly. Use this document to prep:

Step 3: Submit Official Request

Once you have drafted your answers and confirmed your deadlines, submit the official form:

Note: Submission of a request does not guarantee a letter will be written. Letters are written at the teacher’s discretion. Incomplete, superficial, or late submissions will not be considered.

After Submission

Once your letter is submitted, you are expected to:

  • Inform Mrs. Lozick of your application outcomes and final decision.
  • Send a brief thank-you email.
