Frequently Asked Questions:

  1. What are the extra credit opportunities in this course?
Extra credit questions are included in assessments on the originally scheduled dates. These cover various topics learned throughout the year.
  2. How does the makeup assessment policy work?
Makeup assessments are designated for Wednesdays during homeroom. They are required for students who miss a test due to an excused absence and will differ in format from the original test. This includes student athletes who miss an assessment due to a game; these students are expected to coordinate a date and time in advance of when they will make up the assessment before their absence. Failure to do so could result in no makeup being available, and the student will earn a 0 on the assessment with no option for makeup. Makeup tests are not offered for unexcused absences or for students present at school during other class periods on the day of the assessment. Additionally, if a student is in school on the day an assessment is scheduled, they are expected to take the assessment during that day's homeroom session.

  3. Will my grade be rounded?
Grades are calculated to the nearest tenth of a percent. Requests for additional rounding for a higher letter grade are not considered.

  4. What if I miss a test due to an emergency?
Excused absences cleared with the attendance office will fall under an excused absence. You can take a makeup test on the designated days, but with no extra credit opportunities.

  5. What should I do if I know I’ll miss a test in advance?
Contact me to pre-arrange your assessment.

  6. How is late work handled?
Late homework is accepted only with an excused absence. It must be submitted the next class day after the student returns. Assignments are available online, and students are responsible for catching up. As stated in the Student Code of Conduct, and per Ed. CODE 48205(b), all make-up work must be completed within 3 (three) days of returning to school from a verified absence. Work that is turned in late, not subject to a verified absence, will lose fifty percent of its value if turned in within three days of the due date. Work turned in after the three days will not be counted and students will receive a score of 0 (zero).

  7. How are grades calculated in this course?
Grades are based on tests, quizzes, projects, homework, classwork, and the midterm/final exam. The breakdown is detailed in the syllabus.

  8. What is the classroom phone policy?
Phones should be silenced or on Do Not Disturb and placed in the "Phone Zone" unless permitted by the teacher.

  9. What material do I need for this class?
The syllabus list required materials, including textbooks, calculators, and other essentials for class.

  10. How can students receive extra help?
Students are encouraged to contact Mrs. Lozick via email for assistance or schedule a meeting during homeroom.

  11. What is the retest policy for Math Analysis?
A single retest per semester is available for students scoring below 75% on an assessment. Eligibility requires completing a Correction, Reflection, and Evaluation (CRE) for the respective assessment.

  12. When are retests scheduled?
Retests are conducted on Wednesdays during homeroom. Eligibility requires a score below 75% and completion of the required Correction, Reflection, and Evaluation (CRE) process.

  13. What is the class's academic integrity policy?
The class upholds a zero-tolerance policy for academic dishonesty, which includes cheating and plagiarism. Any violation of this policy will result in a zero for the implicated assignment and an F in citizenship for the semester. Additionally, the incident will prompt parental contact, a formal referral, and suitable disciplinary actions in line with school policies. This stringent approach underlines the importance of maintaining academic integrity in all coursework.

  14. Are electronic devices allowed during tests and quizzes?
Electronic devices are strictly prohibited during tests and quizzes. They should be placed in the designated Phone Zone.
