Dual Enrollment Information
San Marino High School & Pasadena City College Dual Enrollment Program
San Marino High School is excited to partner with Pasadena City College (PCC) to offer Dual Enrollment classes right here on the SMHS campus, after school!
What is Dual Enrollment?
- Dual Enrollment classes are college courses taught at SMHS.
- Students earn both high school and college credit simultaneously.
- Unlike AP exams, there is no final exam that determines college credit; college credit will be determined by course performance and final grade. Students do NOT sit for AP exams equivalent to dual enrollment courses.
- Courses are free of charge, although students may be responsible for textbooks or supplies.
- Dual Enrollment is open to 9th (Spring Semester ONLY), 10th , 11th and 12th grade students.
What is Concurrent Enrollment?
- Concurrent Enrollment refers to college classes taken on the PCC campus, alongside college students.
These courses do not appear on the SMHS transcript. - Students should not enroll in concurrent courses that replace or overlap with required SMHS courses.

- Overlap with SMHS courses, or

- No Credit on SMHS Transcript- Concurrent enrollment courses will not appear on your SMHS transcript and will not count toward your high school GPA.
