Introduction

Welcome to my little intro page! I attended college at UCSD, where I obtained a joint Bachelor's/Master's in human biology with a minor in philosophy (ask me about the Greeks!). Then, I headed east to Cambridge to get my Ph.D. in Applied Biosciences at MIT doing research on cancer stem cells. However, after a few years, I realized that I enjoyed teaching undergrads more than I did research, so I came back to California and got my teaching credential in biology.

I've been teaching science at SMHS since 2017. For the 2025-2026 school year, I am teaching AP biology and biology. In the past, I have also taught marine biology, Caltech STEM, and chemistry. I love talking about the recent and sometimes very scary advances in biology and medicine. Ask me about mirror life!

I spend most of my time making slime or trying to replicate Bluey games with my six-year-old. When I am not being held hostage by my Velcro child, I enjoy button mashing in Monster Hunter and pretending I have a real strategy in Balatro, binging Big Brother and The Genius, going to live music events, and obsessively reading and rereading anything written by the fantasy greats (Bridge Four!) while pretending that I, too, will one day write a novel.

Fun Fact: My favorite/best subject throughout all levels of school was any sort of English class 😌.
