Think about the quote in page 16, where Rainsford says:

"The world is made up of two classes--the hunters and the huntees. Luckily, you and I are hunters."

What does he mean? What kind of person is a hunter? What kind of person a huntee?
What does Rainsford's comment reveal about his character?

The terms used in your planning notes/essay instructions are codes for parts of your essay:

CD = concrete detail or quote
CM/CS = commentary or explanation of how quote supports your thesis or topic
RTT = means relate to thesis
TS = topic sentence or thesis
ST = subtopic

Describe Madame Loisel's character, using three key adjectives, and find at least one quote that really illustrates how she possesses that trait.

For example: she is vain, selfish and impulsive
Choose the best example from the story to support your adjective.

Reminder: a quote is not always a character talking, it can be the narrator describing someone's actions, thoughts or reactions...

This is important preparation for your essay, which you will write, in class, Thursday and Friday of this week.

Complete reading of Sandra Cisneros' essay On Writing The House on Mango Street in the Interactive Reader (pages 209-215).

Complete the activities on pages 216 and 217.

Then create a new chart just like the one on page 217. Do the same activity using that chart for analysis of Voice in "My Name" (the essay I gave you).

Use the list of words to describe tone if it helps you identify tone in "My Name."

You will be writing an analytical paragraph on this in class next week.
