Some shifts in point of view are bound to change our minds about the characters. Demonstrate one example of how this happened to you as you progressed through The Joy Luck Club.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens

1. Before Reading- make a list of your 7 best habits and 7 habits you would like to change about yourself
2. While Reading- make notes in the text about which habits can be most helpful to you. Highlight ideas that you find helpful in the text, and make notes about how you can implement the tasks into your life.
3. After Reading- choose one habit as your goal for the first quarter of school. In an insightful paragraph, answer the following questions:
a. Why did you choose this particular habit?
b. How will this habit help you to be successful?
c. What is your plan to master this effective habit?

1. After Reading- write a one-paragraph review of the book.
A. First, a review gives the reader a concise summary of the content. Please include title and author.
B. Second, and more importantly, a review offers a critical assessment of the content. This involves your reactions to the book: what strikes you as noteworthy, whether or not it was worth reading, and how it enhanced your understanding of the topic or theme.
C. Finally, in addition to analyzing the work, a review often suggests whether or not the audience would appreciate it.
