The AP Government & Politics: United States course provides an analytical perspective on government and politics in the United States. This course involves both the study of general concepts used to interpret U.S. politics and the analysis of specific case studies. It also requires familiarity with the various institutions, groups, beliefs, and ideas that constitute U.S. political reality. While there is no single approach that an AP Government & Politics: United States course must follow, certain topics are generally covered in college courses. They are: 1. The Constitutional Underpinnings of the United States Government 2. Political Beliefs and Behaviors 3. Poltitical Parties, Interest Groups, and Mass Media 4. Institutions of National Government 5. Public Policy 6. Civil Rights and Civil Liberties

Unit III make-up test
Also Unit III test (for those who missed version 1)
As for the test scores, some of you did exceptionally well; others struggled. The average was 17.6%.
Mr. Irie's classes averaged almost exactly the same.
Our essay scores this time around were, however, a bit higher.
The point not to be lost - on this test, we are right there with Irie's three classes . . .
In any event, the make-up will consist of essentially the very same questions, with the exception of about four to five that I will change.

I've posted your scores for the multiple choice section of the Unit I Exam (see Powerschool).
The good news is that the class as a whole averaged a 38/50; Mr. Irie's classes slighly less.
So given how well his students normally do in re the Spring AP test, we're off to a good start.
We'll go over the mc section of the test tomorrow in class. We'll aslo score the essay section.

The fact is that that in order to do well in the AP Government & Politics, you're going to have to take in a lot of facts and memorize a chunk of it.
To that end, much time has gone into the preparation of the flashcards. I cannot emphasize enough how much I think these will help you. Yes, the Unit I flashcards are about 12 pages in length, but then I'm also committed to covering much of what's contained therein via in-class lecture and activity.
Last but not least, I strongly suggest you print out the flashcards, put them into the Unit I section of your binder, and bring to class. For the first several days of class, my lecture will make signifant reference to the flashcards and so having them in class is all but a necessity.
Still, whether it be in terms of Mr. Irie's class or mine, the average on the Unit I test is normally about 75%.
