all right good morning everyone Welcome to our final Java with Jason for year 2020 it's nice to say things are final four year 2012 it's not it's not as though this has been a fantastic year but we haven't gotten quite a few really cool things out of it I think we're learning a lot on both about her about how we can do things differently in school to relate support a lot of students not just those who have been traditionally very successful in a Traditional School environment I'm so weak able to kind of expand that and find some really cool techniques and tools this year I'm also I think we're doing a really fabulous job as a district and as a School site to make the most of the situation I want to say especially today how proud I am of my office staff particularly mr. Scribs on mr. Casey all of my counselors later escamilla has been amazing Michelle cure our security guard and Sonia quiroz and of course the amazing Annie Chan who is my right arm left arm probably both feet at this point basically helping me get everywhere go and not that group has done an amazing job that's if you have a kid coming on campus for anything whether that's the SAT Athletics and as we're trying to expand that into a special needs population and an email population in the coming semester it's all because of those people they're doing all the hard work they're setting up all of the policies and procedures they're working really tirelessly to make sure that we do connect with not just you all but our kids and trying to make the most of a really difficult situation so I wanted to definitely end this year with a lot of thanks and blessings on that group we're not for them I even though I've lost all the hair on the top of my head I assume like all my beard hair would probably fall out to from stress and I don't have to stress that at all cuz I got such a great team so welcome everyone it is the end of semester 1 hopefully you found some success with your own children your own family thus far and you are all being very safe and staying home the best of your ability you'll notice somebody jumps on our camera here from my office staff that they are pretty much all at home and that is because as everyone knows I always had a couple of cases of Cobra that has come through the high school and we've done a great job of managing that thanks to dr. Choi especially who's really led the district's ability to respond appropriately take the steps necessary to contact and make sure that everybody is fully taken care of and that's why it hasn't turned in anything bigger so we're really thankful the doctor showing the work that he's done and his ability to communicate with us his outstanding giving example of that we had our SAT this last week which was amazingly successful take thanks to mr. Casey who did all of the prep work there and really ran a smooth smooth Day game our kids the option of taking the SAT locally but when we did have our incident where we find out somebody was positive that person went home immediately dr. Choi this was at I think 7:30 in the when I called him picked up the phone to the contact tracing interview with the individual discovered a need to have two other individuals quarantine which they immediately and all of that has worked out really well who was a positive rate the two who quarantine I've already tested and it been so I think it says a lot about our small community that were able to respond really in a in a really great way to something that could be so really frightening regardless of what you think about the the virus it kind of can catch you off-guard when someone says I got it and oh and we hung out for a minute so I think we're doing a great job there alright today is a focus on sophomores and for that we've got quite a few people here but we're going to do around the horn we typically do and we will hear from our assistant principal mr. Casey we will hear from one of our counselors on sophomores that's an Explorer as we will definitely hear from tastic PTSA president Spencer and if we have our grad night people on which famous painting around looks like a got a few of those people on board they might jump in and just to give us a reminder in an update where we are with grad night just to let everybody know, where are heads are at for second semester it's quite obvious that we aren't probably going to be able to come back in a very normal manner immediately the Department of Public Health while they haven't put any further directions on schools given the new orders they also haven't given us any new guidance that would allow us to bring kids back in mask so what we're looking at is where our opportunity opportunities right now are to bring some of our more struggling students accidents with I can come back so I'm working with Abby Cabrera the district office to develop possible cohort for students with 504 is an IEP and then we're going to start doing some work around you are English Learners especially those who have low to no English go brand new to the country really needing to have some more structured support especially in their core class so we're going to take a look at doing some work around that as well we want to keep our Athletics going and mr. He's doing a great job of setting up our second semester that way we've done a fantastic job I mean throughout this surge of Kobe cases we continue to keep our athletes on campus and we haven't had a single incident and I'm really proud of our coaches for doing an excellent job of maintaining physical distance throughout their time making sure that they are communicating clearly with their parents and their assistant but mostly to mr. And Miss escamilla who have done are the Lion's Share of the work to make sure that that consistently happens so we're very lucky and let's not forget in times of Crisis you really kind understand which side of the fence you sit with regard to having skillful people with great leadership abilities at all levels alright so let's get started with Kenneth Barlow program today we're going to ask Miss Spitzer to go ahead and unmute and give us any PTSA update before we jump over to our grand Knight shares Spitzer if you unmute and feel free to speak thank you Jason good morning everyone I know it's been a long haul for all of us to think we're in light quarantine semi quarantine month 7 plus I just want to Echo the sentiments of our great leader and principal Jason kurtenbach. There's so much to be thankful for and grateful for we have a great team at the high school between Jason and the rest of the administration Shannon staff and teachers who done a fabulous job and a responding to our current situation and I just want to give a shout out to a SD as well to continue to engage our students very creatively and that hold that that department to they're doing a great job of keeping kids engaged and participating in these important arts different things on start our students are really they really cherish and I are such a great connector so with that I also want to celebrate the small things that are happening even with this pandemic on our executive board who I cherish for all their work and volunteerism as well as our committee chairs we had a brand-new Thanksgiving baby birth gave birth a healthy baby boy on November 25th which is amazing and we need to celebrate those kinds of life event small and big and so I just throw that out there personally I had mine son come back from Korea on that 12-hour flight AS Korea was also surging in their covered pots at Tiffany and he came home he quarantine he's safe and so I feel very grateful and blessed I'm continuing to try to find all those Silver Linings in our kind of moment in time here and also want to let you know that PTSA continues to be here to support you and we are always open to any suggestions you may have we're trying to take on a mess more supportive role this year than kind of out front doing major parties and programs the we also are continuing to do programs such as supporting a peer mentoring on campus link crew ASP and things like that so if there is a need please send us your ideas we're open to listen to all of them we hope to support whatever needs there are you are all applications because of your generosity we were able to fulfill needs on campus of our teachers as well as their wishlist and we also are supporting the wellness center we're hopeful that they'll be some additional programs and as well as physical changes there that will give more access for students just wanted to say happy holidays in Java with Jason talk before we break good luck to our students I know that Jason is doing a terrific job talking to her asking them to really rethink what finals looks like feels like and that's very much appreciated and I know that for the sophomore class specifically hopefully it has been and a good experience and continues to be so it's a little less daunting because he have a couple of more years before that college graduation but it happens quick so I continue to encourage your children to keep engaging and they have one more week so let's all hang in there for one more week and that's it so happy holidays everyone thank you so much Holland yes you use you said it all right there it is very important for us to stay great for where one of the I think lucky are schools and school districts given what we've been able to handle and go through all right if I have any of our grad night chairs to give any sort of an update to our grad night I will start with just a little bit about the end of the year because even though this is primarily focused on sophomores it's kind of good for us all to know the direction we're going there is a little bit of Hope on the horizon with that vaccine however I've been directing anyone who's thinking about end of the year program to really planned for a distance program not a typical school year program and that's not to say we won't get there but what it is is an opportunity for us to plan now for what we know we can definitely do and be able to pay that and make adjustments to go back to what we used to do what we used to do is very simple and easy for us to accommodate I think if we were to have just a few days but we had to go back to a cool graduation I feel like we could pull that off pretty quickly because we know what that looks like but if we just had a couple of days to go to a distance learning style graduation becomes a little bit more challenging so just ask people to plan in that direction so do we have either Cynthia Nicolette Alice or Kim on the line and is there any updates and Jason this is Helen again if our grad night shares or not here I just want to put in a flex for them that they've been doing a great job kind of as Jason said having contingency plan a b and c and play and so I think they're very ready to Pivot and celebrate our graduates this year so not to worry and of course as a sophomore I specifically they look to you for support and some volunteer help as they move towards whatever plan they move towards at the end of the year cuz it takes a lot of people to kind of pull off Garden and the senior class parents are not allowed to physically be there cuz it's for the seniors so I just continue to look for information for my grad night terrors who are doing a great job they also sent out to the seniors walking the seniors the traditional fundraising thing but just for holiday spirit I think they're delivering small packages for seniors along with blocks of flamingos on their lawn Decked Out dust kind of holiday cheer so I commend them for doing that and that's not a fundraiser that's just to raise the spirit of our seniors who are having I'm sure it's difficult time starting the Year this way as well as the marks on their senior year right now so that's all for grad night in a different way it's a good thing to be able to make connections with people in to put some good work in there I always like I have a friend of mine has a big a big wig down here this morning in terms of volunteering and helping out in your community he said remember all those restaurants that you asked to sponsor your sports teams that they're they're asking for a favor and I use that as an excuse. every meal right now so definitely all right we're going to hear from fantastic assistant principal here a couple of really big things coming up of course are PSAT in January who gives us an update as to where we are with that we are proceeding forward very quickly scheduling for next year with you a huge huge ship for San Marino High School to be this far ahead and that's all things to Carlos and then we'll talk really briefly an opportunity that I'll be email everyone about on Monday and that's potentially to bring the ACT to San Marino High School in March so Mr Casey the floor is yours awesome thank you Jason as you mentioned we just had the SAT last weekend and it went really well and end I think that helped us build a lot of confidence for putting on an even bigger event are the PSATs in late January I need to do it safely I took a little bit longer than normal in the safety protocols but it was definitely done safely and the biggest thing is a special shout-out to Our Stars for 4 we just take some incredible people with accounting guidelines to run these events in so we need volunteers to come out and and put on remember going to have an even bigger one with the PSAT that's just it it it's going to be bigger so I can be about twice the size twice the number of people are going to probably have about 30 to 35 Staff. running it to make sure everything stays safe for our students and that's really the biggest thing I want to share is that we know the logistics we can run off of a smooth event we're just making sure that we have the people and then. They feel safe in order to do type of event and put on a safe event for our students I'm so we're looking forward to that on January 26th we have about a hundred and twenty-five 10th graders and 125 11th graders who are signed up for that the big thing that we're working on right now is Jason mentioned is scheduling right now we're putting together a detail packets that will go out to each grade level at the end of next week and they Klein a whole master schedule process yeah glad that I'll talk about the what it's for those different I just saw a question to chat I'll get to that in a little and so with the scheduling process what we're going to do is ever going to give everyone we want to include students and parents in the conversation of choosing their courses early and often, so we're going to give you a timeline we're going give you the courses that are available for next year we're going to give you the placement criteria we're going to put that all on one sheet so you can see very clearly what that is a big thing that we're doing this year was bumping up the timeline so that we have time and or plan when teachers are on campus when students are on campus in to make us a schedule that is student-centered we are going to start off with our current 10th grade students are incoming juniors are going to go first in jail then our seniors and then our 9th graders then we're going to give detailed timelines for everyone they will have every student will have a one-to-one conversation with their counselor on students will also enter their own course request in to PowerSchool well and will give you detailed instructions into how to do that, but before we enter those course request you want to make sure everyone knows exactly what they're requesting and I'll make sure that we're also available for questions one of the big thing this year that we're really excited about is Ross going to be reaching out to her eighth-grade students as well so they're going to get the same the same contact in the same amount of kind of personal experience that are students here at the high school yet and we're going to start that early we can answer their questions so that way they have a smooth transition a little bit later we'll be doing their course request in March and April but that's that that's a big change on the one to make that a smooth transition into High School what other big thing is when you receive your email next week from me it's going to have the information as well as as well as form that's going to include FAQ section so if you'll answer questions you can fill that anytime but if you have any questions about that we want to gather those questions and then prior to your student prior to your student putting in their course we're going to put out that FAQ to answer as many questions as possible of course I'm always available to answer questions and I will definitely do that diligently and we're working really hard to make sure that everything is it is really but the picture is definitely coming together and we're really excited to put together a great schedule that gives students a lot of flexibility and and and address to students the next big thing is test January is pretty packed so we're we're finding a lot of things prior to score scheduling so students and in families are informed prior to requesting their courses and making a lot of decisions as you as you and moving to the spring summer in the fall the new school year so we have testing night that's going to be on January 13th and that's going to be a webinar and that's targeted mainly towards 10th grade students however it gives students and families more information on test on how they're used and that's a changing landscape on I'm expecting to be the information to be significantly different than it was last year January 15th we have 80 and honors Fair that's for students primarily but we're all going to be putting out a webinar for families as well in your package next week for scheduling you're going to get the placement criteria all the courses that have elective criteria in order to get into that we worked at the teachers in order to in order to create those teachers are then going to have sessions are available for students to attend on January 5th from 12 to 2:30 they're going to be staggered by department and by grade level so students can attend those sessions they are going to be recorded later on after that session we're going to have to send out a webinar to parents family students on how to be in Port stop knowing what the expectations are for each of the courses as well as how to access the video so if you couldn't attend a specific session we're going to have a page specifically on our website where you can access those sessions and find out more about the courses that going to be applying to and we'll keep that webpage active through the scheduling process so as the incoming Juniors incoming seniors incoming sophomores and of course our incoming freshmen as they come through will be able to access some of those of course our Juniors have most classes that are either ATR Honors that are available to them the most higher level courses on so they're going to have more of those choices to make so we want to make sure they're in form and choose a balance schedule that works for them we want to know if we want students to know what they're getting into at least we had Junior night which is on January 19th session is about is essentially explain to students what the college application process is like once again that's changed a lot that landscape has changed a lot within the last year year-and-a-half so I expect a lot of the information from our guest speakers in from our staff time to be new and in order to keep our our students and families informed that's the gist of what I have I have a couple questions over here in the chat I can come by I'm going to go through and read through those and then I Believe Miss Flores is coming on next I might jump in and answer some of these questions as we go through I don't want to pause and reading and waste Buddy's time Jason's that sound like a good idea sounds like a perfect idea questions and then and then I'll I'll but in in just a little bit counselor mastani al-hendy she's going to give us some updates on our Wellness Center again and she's always having that Center growing and changing to support our students or staff and our entire Community including are there so Miss Tanya do you want to unmute and feel free to give us any updates on the hello so again I am Tanya handy and so if I hadn't had the pleasure of meeting you was apparent before I look forward to that. I was far as updates were working with a lot of students that are really kind of finding a trying to find a good balance of how to manage studying for their finals coming up and then also trying to get missing assignments we have some students were trying to identify and really kind of help them kind of organized and plan to. Final week and then off update and anyway we're going to be having our first MST training joining us and she is actually a former San Marino High so we're really really wanted to come and join us and Marino team until we get to that we're going to be doing some more virtual opportunities so this week and then as well as next week we have our virtual Center open and we're sharing a link with so that way they can make it available to students they can just click the link and then were able to kind of connect with them and give them some tools and kind of see how we can assist thank you so much for those updates there's there's so much we really wish we had our kids on campus we're doing as much as we can to reach out virtually and Tanya's done an amazing job you're not following her on Instagram even though I'm the principal I keep learning more just by Falling Amar Wellness page on Instagram so I would definitely recommend that to you parents alright let's bring on Miss Christine Flores she is our new comprehensive counselor this year and she is here to give us some insight as to what our sophomore parents can be expecting so miss Laura's feel free to unmute hi thank you very much just wanted to kind of give you some little tips and to be kind of looking at 4 with sophomores right now just making sure that I'm sure as I'm sure you are checking in with your students see how well they're doing see how schools going with kind of talking to them about the process also of course checking and grades in simos little quarter marks in semester and see how they're doing and if you do see your student struggling at all connecting with the teachers in purging your student to go to the office hours all teachers have office hours avail go to them and those in students know when those are at so definitely encouraging them to go to that if they are needing some Support also setting goals like setting goals for the rest of the school year knowing that we might not be back in a traditional setting goals for motivation and keeping students Focus I think the times that I've talked to students at they they are tending to be struggling at times with their motivation of everyday and this is online whether they like it some of them don't they're kind of all over the place so I'm just kind of keeping that motivation going and we're halfway through no coming up to the next week we are going to be halfway through and we can make that final push to the very end sophomore year is of course important as you know for colleges and for preparation for that the next kind of peace is you know if your student is taking the PSAT just making sure once those results come out that students are looking at those results seen areas of strengths and weaknesses and you can really kind of Taylor to see how well you student might do in the SAT there's also those SAT prep so when the students actually take the SAT or PSAT I'm sorry making a line to see how they would do on the actual sat so seen those areas and working on the if they need support and if they're planning on taking the SAT at a further time also discussing next to your courses as you know that we are starting the process for scheduling pretty early this year which is great but just those discussions are how is your student doing right now with the workload and the student challenge themselves to the next year and what's the plan for the further years to come especially up until senior year what is kind of college looking like how are they doing are they too overwhelmed with the load that they're taking now does something need to kind of come off the plate a little bit so just kind of gauging where your students at and setting those goals for the next year seen what those options are but definitely seen if they are doing how they're doing right now how are they handling the workload right now of course I'm also making a college wish list even though it's a couple years away for sophomores and it's never too early to kind of identify schools that what's what is on your students wish list what are they thinking about what schools that they you know their dream School in Stockton and see what those requirements are you know if the student is doing really well in classes you know what kind of ways can we up this a little bit more and get a little bit more competitive also last is make sure you do follow our we do have a counseling Instagram so we do have an Instagram and a sweater so if you do have social media or anything you can follow us and Instagram and I can type it in the chat as well but SM HS underscore counseling is our Twitter handle and then for Instagram at San Marino High School HS San Marino HS counseling so I'll go ahead and put that in the chat but we kind of give some items and stuff in important items that you might need in there as well as certain resources but other than that that's pretty much it if you have any questions and we'll be happy to try to help you and answer any questions thanks so much Miss far as I'm I know we'll probably have some questions popping up in the chat and I think Miss Casey is ready to answer some of those that popped up for him so I feel free, question I answered a couple of questions back to parents about the PSAT procedures what that looks like and I think that it's good to share with everybody when they come in quite a bit of time but we need to know exactly who's on cannabis and and and how they're feeling those are standard District checks when they come in be a part at all times we are Hall monitors throughout the buildings they're directed to the room rooms are capped at 12 and deaths are more than 6 feet apart do the classrooms are open and checking is done at the at the door during breaks students are allowed to go out to the quad we put out cones on the quad more than 6 feet apart and I stand at those cones at that time they can remove the the masking eat or drink on that they brought a snack if they're not eating or drinking their mask is on if they remove their masks at any time they're told that they will be excused from the session bathroom one at a time once again. Is monitored by staff so they answer the bathrooms one at a time and then during exits on students are exited we communicate to make sure that what classes are testing rooms on exiting at the time in students exit the way they came in through the front so we want to make sure the flow of students minimizes that the chance that they come in close contact with another student on those are the big ones is a lot more details but we're we're definitely following the county guidelines and some mr. Casey can you talk a little bit about and I'll I will as well about our probable or potential act coming in March we have a couple of Base that were looking at and then I'll talk about what I'll be doing on Monday so we've gotten some interest about a act the the upcoming and act we're looking at March and April it looks like the next ones that are available is that what we're planning and end end looking into offering that exam for our students as well for March and April and it's looking logistically like it's it's pause now we just need to find out the other piece with which mr. kurtenbach is going to is going to discuss right now and so we we had some interest on and on Sunday what I'm going to be doing is asking parents to buy a Google form in my email if there is enough interest and enough meaning I would say we need to get between 15 and 20 students minimum wage to run section in that is to do many things first of all there's a fee for us to have it on our campus and essentially it is an online test act has gone entirely online. So that's a possibility that we were take advantage of cuz it makes things much simpler than having material sent to us we'd also have to pay for Proctor's we would do it during the school day so that we could be restricted to only our students likely on a Friday I think we're looking at March 5th maybe I can't remember if that's a Friday but I'm doing it in the afternoon is roughly a 3-hour test we would have to have students come on campus falling all the same protocol they would be with one Proctor in a classroom we would have the devices available for them and so we're we're basically just needing to see how many people we should plan for and we need enough to cover those costs are the difference between act and sat in terms of how we put the it's it's pretty it's pretty big actually because the SAT we basically promoted We Gather the Proctors and we set up our site but they take all the money they do all the financing they have a specific amount that they charge which covers the cost for Proctors so going to Hall built in and they handle that Financial Peace and then we just have our side Open The Act the district wood how to collect all the funds would have to hold it in an account and then act would charge the district and we would pay them we have to cover not only the cost of the exam but the cost of the proctor that's just a little bit different than what we would normally do but if there is enough interest and for that on Monday I'll send out a Google form where I'm really going to miss parents not just yet yes if you hold it I'm going to take it that's the question because we we need actually real numbers not potential numbers cuz I think potentially you could ask people would you be interested in you could have 300 people say way-o interested I'm not sure that I'll do it we need to know you're committed to doing it because there is a cost associated with that test for us so be looking for that a reminder next week is finals week and means that on Wednesday Thursday and Friday we will have finals on hesitate to put that in there quotes as I've talked with many teachers the the traditional to our written final is fading away from most of our staff and instead they are doing some very short assessments I even know of some who are doing some exit interviews rather than assessments I wish I could is extremely creative and actually a very good way to determine whether or not students have demonstrated Mastery finals are ways of doing finals coming out English Department I spoke with one teacher yesterday and I can't give too much away obviously it's a final but the really cool thing is there's there's a reading passage that they have their pulled apart to some degree already the students will get and they will have to answer a prompt to that reading passage but it's a very short and it's a really about getting into the the death of the author and I was a fan of the author and the way that the teacher described it to me was really really interesting because the kids are allowed to sort of know about this all through next week so they're going to be working together constructing understanding and then at Mary and they're going to have two hours to write a very short but very intense and detailed response to literature and I thought that that was a much better way because in the past this teacher had run essentially it to our lots of grammar lots of punctuation work lots of close reading I which is really challenging because quite frankly as I've said too many students do I have unfortunately how to speak with regarding cheating we know that this is occurring kind of constantly there's really no way to inhibit it you've got so many devices you got phone you got cameras I'm so being able to sit down with somebody and just have them Write a response at that moment I think is the best way to do that so I'm being prepared for that next week and supporting your students in being prepared for that is very important, look at our holiday weekend holidays two weeks I take us all the way through January 4th yeah you get that extra day you get January 4th that you're going to love that definitely for those of us trying to kiss 2020 goodbye on New Year's Eve and are going to go as hard as they can to get rid of that year you're going to want the extra day definitely but in those two weeks essentially we reminded all of our staff no work no work no work no Preparatory Works no project due on return no quick quiz on return no reading passages are kid really to disconnect and then reconnect with anything in the real world whether that's going for walks with their family playing with the dog playing with their siblings playing with their friends who are in a bubble with them so it's safe whatever we can do to keep I'm into shut that sort of deep academic part of their brain down for a minute so I can reset and really synthesized that knowledge put together and relax we are pushing for that as much as possible so that should be something that you look forward to as a family cuz you can find extra time to spend with your loved ones to do all of those things that you know we should be doing hopefully our parks in our trails and things stay open so you can get outside and enjoy some nature we're lucky that we're going to have some pretty decent weather at looks like but that's looking forward to those two weeks remember that in January we do return things go really quickly and by that I mean we've got actually a few days off almost immediately because we go into our MLK holiday I witches I believe on the State it's the 18th yeah that's the 18th and then just a few weeks after that extended President's Day Chinese New Year holiday that we start of generator that's from February 11th 12 in 15th and 16th so you kind of get that you get another break of time there and that's really great because then you get about 4 to 5 weeks straight and then you jump into spring break so it's a nice broken up second semester as you get through April are you get to April but once you hear April you're kind of going to go for almost 2 months straight with no so that's really what we're preparing for and we're still crossing our fingers because we know that that back scene is supposed to come out around March and in Mass I know that right now they're actually getting some are vaccines out into the world but hopefully by then we can see some loosening up and I had a parent I believe it was in our PTA PTA association meeting asked me you know what let's say we have I don't know May 20th which is 8 days before we in school you can bring every kid back to campus what would you do and I said I'd bring every get back to campus I'd have 8 days of walking around in the quad high-fiving kid if I could because it would just be about can we just get together for a moment and enjoy the fact that we can now get together for a moment if it was one day we would do it for one day but we want to have our kids on campus at that were able to do it so it's always something to look forward to it's something we can talk to our kids about has potential but obviously nothing that we can we can promise but it would something to at least look forward to that in the eventuality that the steak loosens up on us we are going to bring back as many people as we can safely so that we can start to meet some of those other needs and I think we're seeing how important those Connection in community and having our kids be able to have a strong social emotional component to their life right now looking to see if there's any questions in the chat question here if we did have a vaccine would it be required for students on campus or is that still being decided that would be a state mandate that's something that interns vaccines if you know anything about vaccinating your kids now what you probably do you cannot opt out of many of the vaccines needed to attend school measles mom's stuff like that if you don't have those vaccinations then we are not allowed to have you on and I'm particularly knowledgeable about this because in the seventh grade when I was at the middle school we always had to make sure that kids had their whooping cough vaccination and I was a big deal cuz it was kind of the only one you had when you got to secondary level and you had to do it so for years we were communicating with parents about you can't come on campus invariably we would have some people come on campus who had not have their backs we would have to then literally quarantine those kids in a separate area until those vaccines were well-received so I doubt it if I'm a betting person if I'm looking at my tea leaves and I'm trying to think about how the state's going respond to this I doubt very highly that they're going to make a vaccine so new as this mandatory for children may become something that's mandatory for healthcare workers maybe First Responders I doubt very highly it will become mandatory for teachers or other support staff at a school site as well but in the case that it is of course we would have to follow that law to the letter and we've got to make sure work kidding how we would respond I should students not have it if they were are required to but I very highly doubt it only because of the way that the prevailing political winds have been going in terms of this fat any other questions before we wrap up this is a short one I think we're getting comfortable with getting off of Zoom quickly I know that I am there's another question where the covid-19 cases teacher staff or students also how many positive cases were there at San Marino High School so the the two that were on our campus and I say on our campus because the individuals were accessing our campus they weren't necessarily assigned to our campus were adults and I will just say they are staff I don't want to identify them in any other way than that I do we have not had any students who have accessed our campus test positive I have been made aware of students who had tested positive but never had any access to our this year so it's great when parents let us know that because we can support you and contact Racing for example let's say that my son while not attending campus test positive covid but many of his friends maybe they are on the football team and she hangs out with them but not at school me telling my school that my son has Kobe allows them to me contact race for those kids who hate who he has hung out with us so I think that you can use us as a resource you are not required to tell us if your child test positive of course unless they are on one of our on-site cohort but that's something we are definitely supporting our community and doing we did I think you do a great job as I said in contact tracing and then out of an abundance of caution because we were heading into the holiday season I asked my office staff because we were the ones who were on campus kind of consistently to just work from home as much as possible if you did need to go in please make it very quick go get the things you need and go back home and they've been doing a great job with that even though it is much easier when we're all in the office to be able to communicate and get things done quickly we of course saw the need to just take a little bit more of a safety measure and stay home just for this 2 weeks that way we're not going to have to deal with any quarantining in our families for our break time alright well I'm not seeing any other questions in the chat this brings us up about 10 minutes before we would typically leave but with no other questions as I tell all my staff we are not going to stay on Zoom any longer than we need to think we giving you guys a lot of great information please look out look forward to that scheduling work with your counselor and with mr. Casey it done a great job to make as clear and transparent as possible what you'll need to do to set up the best schedule for your stew next year and by doing that you give us the information we need to set up the best master schedule possible so that your kids can get as many of the courses that they want as possible this is the most critical Express we often saying Administration are best teaching tool is the master schedule because if that's perfectly well or as best as it gets our kids is the most on horses possible to keep that moving forward and what they want to learn and what they can do so it's really important that you take the time to sit down with your kids to have conversations about what their goals are where they see themselves next year what they want to challenge themselves with an ultimately where they want to be going to college you you'll hear me say over and over in those phrases what they want what they want mom and dad there's a lot of push what we want and what we think is best as parents I'm not saying that you don't have him put but what I'm saying is please very much listen to your children if your child is not interested in science don't try to convey to be a doctor and engineer do with their passion go with their love go with what makes them a happy engaged and excited Lerner and if that social studies guess what we're having two more ap's next year because mr. Casey worked his tail off to get us some AP econ and AP World History so always look at what they're passionate about start their because that's what you do when you're going to see a happy kid and engaged kid and somebody who believes that they have some determining factors in where their life is going that increases their happiness and their sense of self and generally they stay out of the wellness center them because they feel like they have some determination in their own life so please do your best to do that ask your counselor for their support when you're doing that as well you might think they're making a mistake you might think I know they really should be going this direction I know what's best and and in many cases you do but you never know what's best for somebody in their heart in terms of what they're passionate about and interested in so reach out to her counselors and say how do I have a good conversation with my child about this so I can both support them and then feel safe as a parent cuz believe me I know you always walking that fine line of I'm so afraid they're going to make a mistake but remember we're there to support you and as I've talked too much so many more questions and popped up so I'm going to roll through house really quick and see if we have any want to stay we've got a lot of thanks for our group in our work yes we will definitely keep speech and debate strong mr.
