Mrs. Rushing Small Business/Fashion

This class prepares students with competencies necessary to start and be successful in a business of their own. Class includes business plan design, marketing, advertising and capital requirement. Students will participate in a 30-day business simulation exercise. Students will have hands on experience in the student store, be responsible for inventory, ordering, sales and advertising decisions as well as staffing the store for duration of the class. A portion of the student store profits will be used for student scholarships.

Students will learn basic concepts of design, sewing, current trends and career opportunities in the fashion industry. Focus is on the economics of fashion, and trends that have changed the history of fashion. Students will have hands on experience through sewing projects, internships and participation in a school fashion show.
