· 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM: Peter Pan Dress/Tech Rehearsal · Shakey's Pizza Fundraiser PARENT CORNER Jenifer Lozano & Linda White are excited to announce
SMHS's first Connections Meeting on Tuesday, March 16th, at 9 AM in the
Counseling Office conference room. Connections is a forum for parents of
students in special education to engage in dialogue about their experiences and
gain information to help with future planning for their student. This first
meeting will focus on identifying areas of interest and planning for the
ongoing monthly meetings. Refreshments will be provided. Hope you
will be able to attend. PTSA Meeting 3/17: Please join us @ 10 AM in the Career
Center for this month's PTSA meeting. The PTSA board for next year will
be elected and reports from many Officers will be given. Additionally, we
are fortunate to get both Superintendent Gary Woods and Jeanie Caldwell, head
of the task force addressing our financial crisis to speak to us about their
plans for the coming year. As always, an informative presentation by our
ASB Liaison will keep us all current on what is happening on our children's
campus. THIS IS GOING TO BE A FANTASTIC GRAD NIGHT!! The 'STAR
WARS' panels look AMAZING!!! Parents of all grade levels are
welcome at the Wells Fargo Bank, 2355 Huntington Drive (upper parking lot,
enter through rear alley) to join the fun and help bring Grad Night 'Star
Wars' to life. Just show up for whatever amount of time you can give
on Wednesdays from 10AM - 2PM and/or Saturdays 9AM - 3PM continuing through
May! Lunch is provided! Raffle tickets distributed to each parent
volunteer, with a monthly drawing for a prize. March's raffle is
for an iPod Shuffle!!! The more you show up, the more chances you get to
win and 'May the Force be with you!!' Any questions, please contact Fiona
Harwich, fharwich@yahoo.com or Lorrie Forgatch, lforgatch@aol.com. STUDENT CORNER Tickets for this Saturday's Wonderland Dance are still
available for $40 TODAY, TOMORROW $45 stag or $80 per couple. There
will be a bus for the dance, if we have fifty students who want to ride the bus
for $15 roundtrip. If you ride the bus, you will not be able to leave the dance
until the end of the night. All those running for class elections on Monday, your final
speech is due TOMORROW, Friday, 4 PM in the APO. If you don't have any
changes to your speech, you do not have to turn in a new copy. Final
draft must be typed. Attend the San Marino HS Music Dept.'s annual Spring Concert
(A Night of Classics) TODAY, March 11, at 7 PM in the Neher Auditorium.
The concert will feature the SMHS Concert Band, Orchestra and Wind
Ensemble. Concert repertoire will include selections from Taikovsky's
Sleeping Beauty, Haydn's Symphony 94 (the "Surprise") and Dello
Joio's Satiric Dances. Admission is free and extra-credit slips will be given
out. Spanish AP applications are due no later than 3PM TOMORROW,
Friday, March 12, to Sra. Cobos in room 30. No exceptions will be made. Reminder Juniors! Applications from the APO to be an
Ambassador (one boy & one girl) for the Tournament of Roses are
due back to the APO by Tuesday, 3/16. Girls interested in applying,
may NOT try out to be on the Royal Court (Queen or Princess). It will take a
lot of your time over Winter Break and some days during the summer. Don't apply
if you are very involved in school activities, will be gone or if you don't
think you will have the time. Students working at the Special Olympics, make sure you
return your teacher signature sheet to Ms. Hart ASAP, no later than Tuesday,
3/16. Hey Club Presidents! Titanian is taking Make-Up Club
pictures TOMORROW, 3/12, during lunch at the Gym Circle. Please
check your club e-mails for instructions and
information. Sophomores who would like to apply for honors United States
History next year, please come to room 401 or room 403 to pick up an
application. Applications are all due by March 26th and the testing dates
are April 12-15. No excuses for late applications. Hey Titans! Our fine arts magazine Titan Musings is
here! They will be available in all English classrooms this week for $3
each. Be sure to ask your English teachers if you can get extra
credit! Check out your friends' art, it's awesome! Do you want some pizza? Well next Wednesday, March 17th, is
our first Shakey's Fundraiser. Come eat with friends and play some games
afterwards. Students interested in volunteering at the March 19th Special
Olympics, but did not sign up; please see Ms. Hart in room 501. Students
still needed to help out during the morning shift. COUNSELING DEPARTMENT Clear Choice Art Scholarship: Krylon®, inventor of the first
aerosol clear coatings to preserve artwork, announces its second annual
scholarship for high school students. For a chance to win one of five
$1,000 scholarships, apply by the May 31st deadline. The application can
be downloaded at: http://krylon.com/pdf/KRYLON_Art%20Scholarship_2010.pdf. FRIAR TUX COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP: There is a $500 award for
California high school seniors. You must submit a 500-word essay, your
official transcript and two signed letters of recommendation. The
application form is filled out online at http://www.friartux.com/scholarships.
The deadline is April 15, 2010. COLLEGE AND CAREER CENTER Do you love sports? Would you love to work within the sports
industry? If you answered YES, then don't miss out on the Sports Careers
Lunch & Learn! Sign up & pick up your permission slip from the
College and Career Center. Seating is limited to the first 40 students that
sign up. Lunch and Learn is from 12-1PM on Wednesday, March 24th, in the
College & Career Center. Teacher permission is needed to attend this
event! SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES Peter Pan is still looking for some volunteers to help out with
selling concessions, flowers, t-shirts, and ushering people to their seats on
3/19, 20, 25, 26, and 27 from 6:30 - 10:30 PM and on 3/21 and 27 from 12 to 4
PM. You are limited up to 8 hours of SMHS service hour credit, but you
are welcome to sign up for as many days as you would like! Please contact
Lisa Link at links4@aol.com or by text at 626-590-8766. On Saturdays through May, all SMHS students, except seniors, can
earn up to 8 Community Service Hours for working at all the Grad Nights
combined at the Wells Fargo Bank upper parking lot, 2355 Huntington Drive

form with you, so you can obtain a signature at the end of your shift. CLUBS ACTS - There is a virtual speaker TODAY. Curious?
Come join us at lunch in room 401. Everyone is welcome. TITAN BOOK CLUB - Hey, Titans! Tired of reading the
same old books? Want something new to read? Or maybe you just want to talk
about the awesome book you just read. This club is the solution to all those
questions. Come to the first ever Titan Book Club meeting TOMORROW,
3/12, in Mrs. Naqvi's room, 22, to read, discuss, and enjoy. Books
included, but you're welcome bring one yourself. Snacks will be provided.
ZETHUSIANS - Hi members! We will have a meeting
TOMORROW in room 28 at lunch. So, remember to come! Food will be

please click here. Last week's recap: The boys’ volleyball team dropped their
opener to Notre Dame. The baseball team started their season by defeating
Rosemead. The softball team opened their season defeating Rio Hondo
Prep. The tennis team defeated Mater Dei, but lost to University
(Irvine). The boys’ golf team defeated Burroughs and Alhambra. |
