Mission Statement

The mission of the San Marino High School Counseling program is to offer a comprehensive program that helps students realize their full academic potential, set appropriate career goals and achieve optimal personal growth in order to become productive members of the world community.

 

Guidance Program

The San Marino guidance program services are available to all students and are aligned with the American School Counselor Association National Standards for School Counseling.  The high school counseling department identifies services to provide for students.  A student’s interests are considered in helping the student plan their four-year high school program.

 

Typical Services Provided Include:

·      Orientation for all incoming 9th grade students, transfer students and parents

·      Annual conferences for each student

·      Career Center services including college admissions and information on careers

·      Parent and student information events and college information nights for each grade level

·      Identification of post-high school educational and vocational goals

·      Individual student planning and development of a four-year academic plan

·      Post-secondary planning, college applications, SAT/ACT information and goal setting

·      Decision making skills, coping strategies, peer relations, positive communication and study skills

·      Student Success Team meetings, parent conferences and community resource information to help at-risk students or those in crisis

·      Financial aid and scholarship information

·      Summer program ideas
