VARSITY

Mack Paciorek
, Varsity Head Coach Mack is in his third year as Head Coach of the Titan Baseball Team. A Titan himself, Mack played 4 years of college baseball as well as 5 years professionally. Mack was drafted in 1998 by the Detroit Tigers and was also an All Big-12 shortstop at Iowa State University. Mack was part of our successful Titan baseball program under Coach Mickey McNamee where, in 1995 and 1996, he was named 1st Team All-Rio Hondo League, 1st Team All-San Gabriel Valley, All-CIF, and, in 1995, All-State. He was part of the San Marino High School 1995 CIF Championship Team. Since ending his professional playing career, Mack has continued to use his passion for baseball to develop young players as Assistant Baseball Coach for Cal Poly Pomona, Baseball Program Director for California Coast Baseball Academy, Instructor and coach for Baseball Factory (college recruiting service), and as a Coach for the Danville Dans in the Central Illinois Collegiate League (prestigious summer wood bat league). In addition to his current role as Head Coach for the San Marino Titans, Mack continues to develop community youth baseball skills through private and group instruction. Mack has been married to his wife, Keri, for 6 years. They have two sons. In his free time, Mack enjoys family time, anything baseball-related, weight training and conditioning, and watching movies.

Marcos Bugarin, Varsity Hitting Coach Marcos is a 2002 graduate of Rosemead High School, where he played baseball for each of his four years there. While at RHS, he was named 2nd Team All League during his 1999-2000 season and 1st Team All League his 2001-2002 season. From RHS, he went on to attend and play baseball at Pasadena City College. In addition to earning his Associate of Arts Degree in 2005, Marcos received Honorable Mention distinction in the All South Coast Conference in each of the two years he played for PCC. From PCC, Marcos attended Culver Stockton College earning his B.S in Business Administration and again received Honorable Mention distinction in the All Heart of America Athletic Conference in 2006. Marcos was also named captain of the Culver-Stockton baseball team. In addition to playing baseball, Marcos is also active in coaching. Although currently coaching at the high school level, Marcos has also worked with Walnut Youth Baseball as an Assistant Coach of 9-10 year olds, and he has trained 7-14 year old players in hitting and infield techniques.

Jim Irwin, Coach Irwin was a 3 year varsity player and all CIF at SMHS and was on the 1977 CIF championship team.    He went to the next level and played four years at Cal State Los Angeles.  In his time there his career batting ave. was over .300.  He split his time between catching and first base.   Some of the teams he played against were USC, UCLA, Cal State Northridge, San Diego State, Tulane, Hawaii, Witchita State, Cal State Fullerton,...  Playing against those schools He had the opportunity to play against and with future minor and major leaguers,  among them Tony Gwynn, and Rene Gonzales. In the summers Coach Irwin played with the East La. Monarchs which was a great experience, because players from all over were on the team; collegiate and ex pro players made up the roster.  He also had the pleasure of spending time with the Pasadena Red Birds.

For the last 20 plus years he has coached at Rosemead High School on the J.V. and Varsity levels.  In his tenure there as a coach he worked with hitting, catching, and outfielders along with other coaching duties.   He produced several players that went on to play college ball and pro ball and has a Rosemead athlete currently pitching for the Kansas City Royals Organization who made the forty man roster last year.

One important thing Coach Irwin has learned over the years is that winning in Baseball or any other thing in life is that it starts with... the way you tie your shoes  ( I give credit to that idea to the Late John Wooden)!!

Nolan Bruyninckx, Pitching Coach Nolan is in his second year as the Titan pitching coach. He played for Arcadia High School before moving onto Cal State Fullerton where he earned a College World Series Title. Nolan enjoys poetry readings and art festivals in his spare time.
