However, in Exercise 4 (415, text) the conjugation used is the Past perfect subjunctive that is formed with the imperfect subjunctive of Haber + past participle. For example: Era imposible que mi padre hubiera nacido antes que mi abuelo (it was imposible that my father had been born before my grandfather). If the verb in the first clause were in the present, then one must used the present perfect subjunctive, which is formed with the present subjunctive of the verb Haber + past participle. For example: Es imposible que mi padre haya nacido antes que mi abuelo (It’s impossible that my father have born before my grandfather.

If you remember incorrectly you won’t be able to form correctly the imperfect subjunctive. In terms of when to use this tense you must recall when to use the present subjunctive (doubt, emotion, absolute negation, impersonal expression such as Es necesario que..etc.) However, now the tense in the first clause must be on the past. Ex. Era necesario que ellos estudiaran más.

it is important to understand that this tense has two main uses: the first one is to make predictions by a certain deadline in the future. Ex.Para el fin de este mes habremos terminado el año escolar. (By the end of this month we will have completed the school year).

The second use of the future perfect is to take a guess about something that occurred in the past, but that we don’t know for sure. Ex. Cuándo habrá empezado esta pandemia? I wonder when this pandemic started.
No sé, habrá empezado en febrero. I don’t know, it must have started in February.
