A NOTE TO PARENTS ABOUT QUARTER GRADES:
Please note that although the high school sends quarter grades home on a "report card" these quarter grades are not part of a student's transcript. The only grades that are reported on a transcript are the Semester 1 and Semester 2 final grades. Please view the Q3 report card as a progress report. If you and your student are happy with the current grade, he/she should keep doing whatever it is they have been doing. If the grade is unsatisfactory, there are approximately 9 weeks left in the semester to raise the grade. As we move forward, it is important to monitor the Semester 2 grade, and not the Q4 (quarter 4) grade. As quarter grades are not reported, it is the overall semester average that is relevant. Grades that I am entering now will continue to be combined with those points earned in quarter 3.
In summary, when you check PowerSchool, look at Semester 2 average, and not quarter averages. A final grade will be based on work a student has done from January all the way through the final exam in June.
